Payment processing lets a business accept money from customers by card, wallet, bank transfer and local methods, online and in person, and get it paid out. Paid options split into processors and gateways (Stripe, PayPal, Adyen, Square, Mollie, Checkout.com, Razorpay, Braintree) and merchants of record (Paddle, Lemon Squeezy) that also handle sales tax. No open-source project can replace a licensed acquirer for cards: Hyperswitch orchestrates across processors, Polar is an open-source merchant of record, BTCPay Server, Bitcart and SHKeeper process crypto directly, and libraries such as Active Merchant, Pay and Omnipay connect your code to gateways.
