In simple English
This tool helps you rewrite your resume for every job you apply for. You upload your main resume and paste a job description. The program suggests improvements that match the job requirements. It runs on your own computer and keeps your data private. You can use free local models or connect your own cloud artificial intelligence keys.
What it is
Resume Matcher is a self-hosted web application built with a Python backend and a Next.js (a React framework for building fast web applications) frontend. It parses resumes and job descriptions, calculates keyword match scores, generates tailored content and cover letters, and exports professional PDF files.
What it is good for
Job seekers who want to tailor their resumes for specific applicant tracking systems without uploading their career history to a third-party website.
- Runs locally on your machine or inside a Docker container (a way to run a program inside its own sealed box, so it cannot break anything else on your server).
- Supports over one hundred artificial intelligence models, including free local options via Ollama (a tool for running language models on your own computer).
- Includes built-in applicant tracking system score calculation and PDF export templates.
- Requires technical setup using the command-line interface (a text-based way to control your computer) and Node.js.
- Consumes moderate system memory when running local language models or headless browsers.
- Requires you to provide your own cloud application programming interface keys or run local models.
