kubero-dev/kubero

A free and self-hosted PaaS alternative to Heroku / Netlify / Coolify / Vercel / Dokku / Portainer running on Kubernetes

← Running in production

In simple English

This tool puts a simple web page on top of your server cluster. You can click buttons to launch websites, databases and background tasks. It hides all the complex code normally needed to run things on a server. You keep full control of your data because it runs on hardware you own. It costs you time to set up and maintain the underlying server infrastructure.

What it is

Kubero (pronounced Kube Hero) is an open-source platform-as-a-service that runs on top of Kubernetes (a system for running computer programs across multiple servers). It gives you a web interface and command-line tools to manage deployments, databases and logs.

What it is good for

Solo builders who want the easy deployment experience of modern cloud hosts, but prefer to run everything on their own cheap virtual private servers.

Good
  • Provides a friendly web interface for managing server apps.
  • Supports automatic deployments when you push code to GitHub or GitLab.
  • Includes templates for popular software like WordPress and PostgreSQL.
Watch for
  • Requires an existing Kubernetes cluster, which is difficult for beginners to set up.
  • Consumes server memory to run its own management containers.
  • Licenced under GPL-3.0, which has strict rules if you modify and redistribute the code.
