In simple English
This program listens to your meetings and writes notes for you. It runs on your computer instead of sending an artificial intelligence bot into your video call. You can keep your audio and transcripts saved entirely on your hard drive. It costs nothing if you use your own artificial intelligence keys or run models locally. You can also pay for optional cloud services if you prefer not to set up local models.
What it is
Anarlog is a desktop application built with Rust (a programming language known for speed and safety) and React (a JavaScript library for building user interfaces) that captures device audio for transcription and meeting summaries. It operates locally by default and stores your notes in a standard SQLite database on your machine.
What it is good for
Solo builders and remote workers who want automated meeting notes without handing their conversations to a third-party cloud service or putting a recording bot on their video calls.
- Does not send an awkward recording bot into your video calls.
- Stores your transcripts and notes locally on your machine in SQLite.
- Supports local models and custom API keys for complete privacy.
- Requires technical setup and several development tools to build from source.
- Compiling local machine learning features on Apple Silicon requires a full Xcode installation.
- Enterprise features and some cloud connectors use a commercial licence instead of MIT.
