In simple English
Your phone and computer need a place to sync your calendar and contacts. Most people use a big company for this, but you can run your own server instead. Radicale is a small program that handles this job on a computer you control. It works with almost any calendar app on your phone or desktop. It costs nothing in money and needs very little memory to run.
What it is
Radicale is a CalDAV (a set of rules that lets apps share calendars) and CardDAV (a set of rules that lets apps share contacts) server written in Python (a programming language). It stores all your events and address books as plain files on your disk.
