In simple English
This tool predicts future numbers from your past numbers. It looks at historical trends in your data and guesses what comes next. You feed it past sales, server load or weather readings, and it outputs the next sequence. It runs locally in Python or Apple Silicon, or through Google Cloud. The model weights are free to download, but commercial use requires Google Cloud.
What it is
TimesFM (Time Series Foundation Model) is a decoder-only neural network developed by Google Research for time-series forecasting. It supports univariate and multivariate forecasting with optional past and future covariates.
What it is good for
Solo builders who need to forecast sales, server traffic or financial metrics without training a model from scratch.
- Zero-shot forecasting without retraining.
- Supports multivariate series and covariates.
- Apple Silicon MLX backend included.
- Version 3.0 weights restrict commercial self-hosting.
- Requires a GPU with adequate VRAM for fast inference.
- Python programming knowledge needed.
Writing custom ARIMA or LSTM time-series forecasting models from scratch.
Hugging Face Transformers for fine-tuning with PEFT and LoRA.
- autogluon/autogluon11k stars
AutoGluon provides automated machine learning for tabular data and time-series forecasting.
- Nixtla/neuralforecast4.3k stars
NeuralForecast offers user-friendly deep learning models for time-series forecasting in Python.
- ggml-org/llama.cpp132k stars
A C and C++ library and command-line tool for running language models locally.
- EleutherAI/lm-evaluation-harness14k stars
Runs standard question sets against a language model and reports the scores.
- mudler/LocalAI50k stars
Serves text, vision, speech, image and video models from one self-hosted service that imitates the paid interfaces.
