Agent Reinforcement Trainer: train multi-step agents for real-world tasks using GRPO. Give your agents on-the-job training. Reinforcement learning for Qwen3.6, GPT-OSS, Llama, and more!

← AI and models

In simple English

This tool helps you train artificial intelligence models to complete multi-step tasks by learning from their own experience. Instead of writing static rules or collecting huge datasets by hand, you let the model try tasks and reward it when it succeeds. It uses a training method called GRPO to update the model weights automatically. You need access to a graphics card or a hosted service to run the training part. It costs your time to set up the reward functions and whatever you spend on computer hardware or cloud services.

What it is

Agent Reinforcement Trainer (a Python framework for training language models using reinforcement learning and reward loops) connects your agentic workflows to a training server. It uses GRPO (Group Relative Policy Optimization, an algorithm that trains language models by comparing multiple attempts at the same task) to improve model reliability over time.

What it is good for

Developers who want to make their AI agents better at using tools, playing games, or searching through documents without manually writing fine-tuning datasets.

Good
  • Integrates with existing Python agent code and frameworks like LangGraph.
  • Supports popular open models such as Qwen and Llama.
  • Provides wrappers that abstract away the complex parts of reinforcement learning servers.
Watch for
  • Requires powerful graphics cards with significant memory to run training locally.
  • Setting up custom reward functions for complex real-world tasks takes careful programming.
  • Relies on external libraries that change frequently, which can break your setup during updates.
