uniqush/uniqush-push

Push notification server for APNs, FCM and Web Push, written in Go.

← Talking to customers
Uniqush-push: unified notification server. Sends push notifications across platforms through one API.

In simple English

This program runs on your own server to send push notifications to mobile phones and web browsers. Instead of writing separate code for Apple, Google and web standards, you talk to one simple local address. It handles the connections and device tokens for you. You need a Redis database to store subscriptions and run the service. It costs nothing in software fees, but you have to host and maintain it yourself.

What it is

Uniqush-push is a single-binary daemon written in Go (a compiled programming language designed by Google for fast servers) that exposes a REST API (an interface for programs to talk to each other over the web) for sending push notifications. It translates your requests into the correct protocol for Apple Push Notification service, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Amazon Device Messaging, and Web Push.

What it is good for

Solo developers and small teams who want to send notifications across multiple platforms without tying their backend to a single commercial notification service or paying per-message fees.

Good
  • Combines Apple, Google and web push into a single API endpoint.
  • Runs as a single compiled file with minimal setup.
  • Keeps all your user subscriptions on your own server.
Watch for
  • Requires an external Redis (an in-memory database used here to store subscriptions) instance to run.
  • The API has no authentication by default, so you must bind it to localhost or set a token.
  • Requires a paid Apple Developer account to test real iOS delivery.
