In simple English
Rallly lets you plan group meetings without endless emails. You create a poll with different dates and times. You share a web link with the people you want to meet. They vote on when they are free without needing an account. You see everyone's answers in a simple grid and pick the best time. The software is free to use on their website or to host yourself.
What it is
Rallly is a self-hostable event scheduling tool built with TypeScript (a programming language that adds rules to JavaScript) and React (a library for building user interfaces). It lets groups vote on meeting times through a web interface backed by a PostgreSQL (a database system for storing structured data safely) database.
What it is good for
This is good for anyone who wants a self-hosted alternative to Doodle or When2meet. It removes the back-and-forth messages of planning group gatherings.
- Voters do not need to create an account or sign in.
- Clean grid view shows all participant choices at a glance.
- Can be run on your own server using Docker (a way to run a program inside its own sealed box, so it cannot break anything else on your server).
- Requires a PostgreSQL database connection to run.
- AGPL-3.0 licence (a legal rule saying if you modify and run this on a network, you must share your code changes) means changes must be open source if hosted publicly.
- Self-hosting needs basic command-line skills and a server.
