Open-source, self-hosted AI-native contract lifecycle management (CLM) for contract operations.

Aakd: contract lifecycle management. Self-hosted contract management with AI extraction.

In simple English

You run this program on your own server to keep track of your business contracts. It takes your PDF or Word contracts and pulls out important dates, rules, and duties. You can connect an artificial intelligence tool to help read the text, but a human must always check the work. It helps you assign owners to tasks and sends reminders before deadlines arrive. The software is free to download and run under an open-source licence.

What it is

Aakd is a self-hosted contract lifecycle management platform built with Next.js and PostgreSQL. It extracts contract facts, tracks obligations, and supports optional AI analysis while keeping all data on your own infrastructure.

What it is good for

Solo founders and small business teams who want to store signed agreements in one searchable place and make sure renewal dates or payment milestones are never missed.

Good
  • Keeps all your confidential contract files on your own private server.
  • Extracts dates and obligations automatically with page-level citations so you can verify every fact.
  • Provides a built-in application programming interface (API, a way for different software programs to talk to each other) and Model Context Protocol (MCP, a standard way for artificial intelligence tools to connect to data sources) endpoint for custom workflows.
Watch for
  • Requires Docker (a way to run a program inside its own sealed box, so it cannot break anything else on your server) and some technical knowledge to install and keep running.
  • Optical character recognition (OCR, the software process that turns an image of text into searchable words) only supports English out of the box.
  • Licenced under GNU Affero General Public License version 3 (AGPL-3.0, a licence that requires you to share your modified source code if you offer the software as a network service), which places strict rules on commercial hosted offerings.
Replaces

Spreadsheets and manual file folders used for tracking business agreements and renewal dates.

Works well with

Ollama (a local program for running artificial intelligence models on your own hardware) for private contract analysis without sending data to third-party cloud services.
