In simple English

This tool connects to your email and reads your messages. It finds every promise that you made or that someone made to you. It puts them in a special folder with a due date. When a deadline is close, it writes a draft reply for you. You check the message and send it yourself.

What it is

NeatMail is an open-source email assistant that uses artificial intelligence to sort messages and track commitments. It integrates with Gmail and Outlook through OAuth (a safe way to let an app access your account without giving it your password) and runs background tasks using Redis (a fast memory store for handling data queues).

What it is good for

Solo builders and busy professionals who miss important email replies and want to automate their inbox triage without switching to a new mail app.

Good
  • Tracks commitments and deadlines in both directions automatically.
  • Drafts replies that match your personal writing style.
  • Works inside your existing Gmail or Outlook inbox.
Watch for
  • Requires many external API keys and services to self-host.
  • Uses a source-available licence that forbids selling a competing hosted service.
  • Depends on paid artificial intelligence services for processing messages.
