JuliaPluto/Pluto.jl

🎈 Simple reactive notebooks for Julia

← Building the product

In simple English

This tool gives you a web page to write and run code in. When you change one part of your code, it automatically updates everything else that depends on it. You do not have to run blocks in a strict top-to-bottom order. It saves your work as normal code files that you can open anywhere. It costs nothing and runs right on your computer.

What it is

Pluto.jl is an interactive notebook environment for the Julia programming language. It uses reactive execution to keep your program state synchronized with the code on your screen.

What it is good for

Solo builders who want to explore data, prototype mathematical models, or build interactive dashboards without hidden workspace bugs.

Good
  • Re-runs affected code automatically when a variable changes.
  • Saves notebooks as clean, readable code files you can run normally.
  • Manages required packages per notebook so others can run your code easily.
Watch for
  • Requires the Julia programming language to be installed first.
  • Only works with Julia, so you cannot use it for Python or JavaScript projects.
  • Large reactive calculations can freeze your browser tab if not designed carefully.
